Your one day list. I’m fairly certain most of us have one somewhere in the back of our minds. It’s a list of things that someday we would like to do. Usually someday during our entire lives. Well it’s time that your one day list gets some proper attention. Being in the back of your mind is doing no one any good and is especially bad for the list. It’s bad for the list because it might never see the light of day that way. Let’s dive into more reasons why you need to write a one day list.
Reasons To Write A One Day List
A one day list gives hope
Having your one day list freed from the back of your brain can give you immense hope. Immense hope. Hope like never before. The hope comes from freeing yourself in a way. It’s free in a way because you, of course, still haven’t created a plan for them or effectively done them. These two might seem like the most important things but at that moment in time they won’t be. As it should.
The hope isn’t based on the prospect of doing them one day but based on not allowing yourself to keep pushing down & ignoring a part of you. The hope is based on you finally allowing you to be, to see what it is you want, to release the shackles you have surrounding the plans.
By writing down your one day list you create space. Space in your mind but also space for yourself. When writing down your one day list, that moment in time and every time you read it becomes your moment to dream out loud even when it’s just you in silence looking at the list on the paper.
You’re going to forget
In those moments of despair, angst and sadness it can be hard to remember that somewhere something good could happen. Or maybe even that there is anything else in the world you can want apart from fixing the cause of your despair. Not seeing yourself being able to smile or be happy until the situation betters. Having your one day list written can be a huge reminder that not all is lost. Most of all it can alleviate your brain from trying to come up with something good for you to think about.
Because let’s be honest, wouldn’t it be sad if you never ever recall that one thing you saw somewhere and said ‘’Ohh I’d LOVE to do that one day!’? It would, wouldn’t it? Now usually in calmer moments there’s a high chance that you’ll remember again, but then again there’s a chance that you simply won’t ever remember. Or worse, remember when the moment has passed and there’s no possibility to create it again. In this instance your one day is gone forever.
Your one day list can be your light during hardship
Another related yet a little bit set apart is that a written one-day list can be your guiding light when things get rough. It can become the reason to continue as when you make it to the other side your one days can then be turned into a day that is on the calendar. I mentioned it was related to the above as I have previously stated that your one day list can give hope. Having your one day list guide you is a process that needs you to keep your hopes up and also have faith that you are going to get there.
Your one day list can also help you focus
It can also help you focus in various ways. One of the ways it can help you focus is to keep going so you can get to the end of the tunnel. Or better said the light at the end of the tunnel that your written one day list provides. The tunnel can have so many distractions in the form of wanting to give up that having something to look forward to might be the only thing pulling you forward on some days.
Depending on what is on your list, it can provide you with another type of distraction as well, namely helpful distractions. Especially if there are relatively small things on the list that you could, in theory, do right then and there. These could be little pick-me ups during the process of getting towards grounds where you can do the bigger one day list items. These can show you that getting there is possible seeing that you’re already in a position to experience the small items on your list.

This is why you absolutely should write your one day list now. But not only that! You have to keep it somewhere where if you come across something you’d like to do you can add it to the list. This of course only when you can’t immediately make reservations to do it. Are you going to write your one day list?
A one day list is much more than just wishful aspirations when you let it be.
