In order for me to come to terms with the fact that I indeed have the power to dictate exactly how my life goes, I tried various things I found in one-to-many empowering books. I admit not everything I read was worth trying. The things I did try didn’t always stick, except for one. One that resonated with me because I truly believe that what you tell your mind, you will come to believe.
I read that if you tell yourself everyday that it will be a great day, the experience of the day betters. I tried it in February till about the end of March. That’s how long it took me to remind myself to tell myself that everyday. I recommend writing it on a post-it or something and sticking it by the door, what I should’ve done but didn’t. Anyways I’ve come to realize that I did feel better during those days and good things were actually happening.
Now I can’t say with a 100% certainty that it was the saying that changed my days, but I am certain it played a part. I can be certain of that because two weeks ago I started actively telling myself again and the same thing happened. I personally think that it is because I’m forcing my brain to have a positive outlook on the day that I view events differently. I am focusing more on the positive, therefore seeing it more.
Now I have changed the sentence to: “Something great will happen today” because it suits me better. A day can be long and not every moment is going to be great, but I can have a great moment everyday. It just makes more sense to me.
If you’re going to write your story, you might as well try to make it a positive one.
