The winter months are quite the attack on the body. Noses get cold, hands and feet get mighty dry and building a blanket fort is a must. Well the last one is if you are asking me specifically, currently typing this from my blanket fort. I have a general dislike for feet so I can’t help you pamper those but I do like pampering my hands. I am also a big fan of Sex and the City so I thought why not share my way of getting rid of winter hands Miranda Style with all of you. The general rule here at My Story Of I has always been if I know, you, my wonders, will know soon after. So here we go.
This recipe specifically helps me get rid of the dryness of my hands. It also moisturizes my hands and exfoliates a little and last but not least it helps me relax and treat myself, which is among the most important reasons for doing this. This one has a special way of relaxing me as I literally cannot do anything else until I am finished. The moment you can’t use your hands, you suddenly realize how often they are in action. Surprisingly, every time I do this treat yourself around the mid point I start remembering everything I have ‘’forgotten’’ to do so, I keep my Iphone plugged in so I can use the ‘’Hey Siri’’ function to let Siri make a to-do list for me as I can’t write.
What you need
- Glass or Steel bowl (No plastic or wooden as they interact with the essential oils which can cause irritation!!)
- Spoon
- Honey
- Extra Virgin Olive Oil / Coconut Oil
- Lavender Essential Oil
- Oversized Gloves
- Show to watch (I suggest Sex and the City Season 4, Episode 3)
- 2 Towels
- Hand Cream
- Kettle
This is going to be some sort of a tutorial as there is lots to prepare and steps cannot be forgotten because of the fact that your hands are occupied. First put water in the kettle, while that is busy boiling take your bowl and add two tablespoons of honey, olive oil and one and half tablespoons of coconut oil. You can reverse the oil amount to the one you prefer more. If your coconut oil is not liquid, don’t worry about it because once the hot water goes over it, it will liquefy immediately.
The water will probably be done, before I set up the other things I open the kettle and leave it open so the water can cool a bit, because who can stick their hands in 100 degrees Celsius water?! Now it’s time to set up your work space to ‘’attack’’ your winter hands. For me this is the kitchen table because it is long and I can put my laptop on the other side of the table because water and laptops are not friends. Set up your show (Sex and the City), guided meditation or whatever it is you want to watch during the process of pampering your winter hands. Make sure you only have to press play when ready to start treating yourself.
Put a towel down in front of you and place the bowl with the ingredients in it on the towel. Next to you place the other towel (half opened) and the gloves. The water has probably cooled to a more manageable temperature so pour that in the bowl and stir till the honey and/or coconut oil have dissolved. Add two drops of lavender essential oil stir again and the mixture is ready. Set your show to play and dunk your hands in the bowl!
Now just play around coating your winter hands with the mixture for about 15 to 20 minutes. I try to keep it at 10 minutes but the way the warm mixture feels on my winter hands is just so amazing I can’t stop. I feel so treated, it’s amazing. After you can finally say goodbye to the lovely warm mixture or if the water cooled down gently dab your hands on the other towel to get rid of the extra water. Make sure not to dry your hands, just dab and then put on your gloves (I don’t put anything extra on my hands here because the oils are still on my hands). Time to call upon your inner Miranda. I usually move the party to the couch at this point, stretch a la Miranda and continue watching Sex and the City for another 20 minutes.
Last but not least after those 20 minutes I take my gloves off, wash my hands and lavishly apply hand cream. Since I opted to watch Sex and the City the movie I got back into my blanket fort and continued watching until the movie ended with lovely moisturized soft hands.
Now I’m already to tackle the winter without winter hands.
Love,
DCPR. .
