Ever since I started traveling I have been collecting souvenirs, maps and other things I needed to have a fabulous time. Lots of people have told me to just throw my memorabilia away, except the pictures, because I can’t use the maps at home anyways. I beg to differ I use them to celebrate my travels and remind myself of how far I’ve come. I do have to admit that they have become a bit much. Or to be completely honest an unorganized bunch of memorabilia. It is about time I start celebrating my travels right at home and organize them properly by creating a memory book.
Okay I’ll admit when I looked at all the things I had collected over all my travels it looked like I had a small hoarding problem. I still have bus tickets, hotel confirmations and even stationery from some of the hotels I have stayed at. I know it’s crazy but it was really pretty! Seriously! To add to the mixture, some of the excursions I have been on let me make stuff which is really cool, obviously I took those things home. You see? Small hoarding problem. In my defense if I didn’t have all those things still how am I supposed to be celebrating my travels by creating a memory book on a Sunday afternoon? Exactly you can’t.
So it was time to organize everything per city that I’ve been to. Seeing everything laid out made me realize that I have been to a lot of places in a very short amount of time. Also all the memories came rushing back. It was the first time that I properly went back and looked at the pictures of all the places I have been to. My dream trip to Dubai, my mothers birthday celebration in Punta Cana, my first ever solo trip to Milan. What a time it has been. This really made me see how many wonderful moments I have already lived.
This was supposed to be a treat yourself project of an hour, two hours tops. In the end an entire afternoon had passed! I had so much fun looking and admiring all that I had collected I got a bit sad when the time, after pushing it for as long as I could, came to actually properly organize everything in the beautiful binder I bought. For every city I started with my boarding pass and ended with my bus ticket or boarding pass home, which now makes looking through the binder a walk through my trip from beginning to end. Yes I also put them in chronological order. Well as much as I remembered!
Treating yourself to a walk down memory lane can help push you to go out and create more memories.
Love,
DCPR.
