Celebrating myself by spending time with me, my all time favorite activity. I’ve been watching Masterchef Australia for quite a while now. I love the sudden death rounds, not because someone goes home, but because everyone gets a fabulous three course meal! I want that too! Now the simple and easy thing to do would be to treat myself to a nice three course dinner in a restaurant. As much as I like to go out, I’ve heard many chefs say that food needs to be cooked with love. It’s the best ingredient. I don’t know if the chef at a restaurant cooks my food with love soo… Obviously this is an excuse for me to fulfill my secret dream of being a Masterchef for a day!

I did some googling and found three recipes that I could make my own. Well you know try to make my own. Either way it doesn’t matter because I’m a self proclaimed Masterchef for a day! “I can do this” is the sentence I repeated to myself all day. I went to the store, forgot half the ingredients, went to the store again, not a great start I must admit. It does take after the way things go when the candidates on the show. Now that I finally had everything, it was time to start cooking. Well time to start the prep as the chefs say.
Managed to get through prep without cutting myself. Yeey me! It also took me three hours to get everything ready. Okay, a little over thee hours. I set the table, lit some candles and got all dressed up. Yes, all dolled up just for me. It was going to be a fancy dinner even if I would fail, I kept the take out number at hand just in case. You know, I just want to be a Masterchef for a day, not hungry for a night. After setting the mood just right for my instant restaurant, it’s finally time to cook and put out my first course, which turned out amazing if I may say so. It was a light soup so, not much burning could be done there.
After a 10 out of 10 start the second course had some bumps. I burned the sauce while combining it with my pasta, even though I managed to keep the pasta perfectly al dente. Luckily I had my friends Ben & Jerry’s to wash away the slight burn taste. I upgraded the Ben & Jerry’s with wafers and some chocolates. It all looked absolutely fabulous. Though, I have to admit, a lot looks great in candle light. I’ll be honest, I did finish the tub of ice cream, because it would have been a shame if I had let it gone to waste.
All in all I did pretty good. Didn’t cut myself, just burned myself minor. Ruined only parts of one dish which is great and had a lovely quiet night.
What more can a girl want?
