Visiting Thermes de Spa in Spa

I love doing at home spa treatments, I think I have made that clear by all the posts you find about the various treatments I do, basically, weekly. However though, as much as I like spa treatments, I do not enjoy going to the spa, nor do I enjoy a massage. I do not like strange people touching me and I am irrationally afraid of getting a fungal infection due to the waters usedšŸ¤·šŸ½. You can’t live with your fears forever so it was high time I bit the bullet and went to a spa I had been wanting to go to ever since it confused me. Yes, I went to the Thermes de Spa in Spa.

I have to say the area surrounding the Spa is gorgeous and puts you in a enjoy the day kinda vibe. I went by car and parking for the entire day is €3,-. I got a day pass as I had every intention of going all out with my pamper day and was not about to be watching the clock every five minutes in order not to exceed my time limit. I say this as they also offer 3 hour stays for €20,-. The day pass costs €31,- seeing that I stayed for five hours, the day pass was definitely the way to go.

What I loved most about Thermes de Spa is that everyone has to be dressed at all times. They do however have a nudist area which, thankfully, was secluded so only those who like being in the nude would see each other, no (unwanted) shows! Also for the price you get the saunas, Hammam and the Jacuzzi included. All things you need another person for you will have to pay extra for, such as a massage or a facial, which you can also get there. By the way all the food offered is very healthy and basically every plate comes with a salad. I thought this was rather funny as I had ordered a simple croque monsieur and the salad outweighed my croque..

If you’ve ever had a Turkish Hammam, you’ll be left a little disappointed with the one they have on offer or my expectations were just too high. I’ve been so in love with the Hammam ever since experienced it in Turkey. I guess just the steam was not sufficient to satisfy my needs, even though it was lovely sitting in there. I went there after going into the sauna, where I almost boiled myself to death. For someone who does steam facials all the time, it appeared that the rest of my body is not a fan of extreme heat as I went pruny after just a few minutesšŸ¤¦šŸ½. I had every intention of staying there for the recommended 10 minutes but I don’t think I made it, I hope I did though.

Afterwards I relaxed in a room that continuously got infused with a spice mix. I have to admit though when I saw the sign on the door I thought that entering would hurt my eyes, I was kind of right. The room was pitch black with glow in the dark effects. The pitch blackness made that you could not see people coming from behind the, also black, curtain, causing my relaxed mode to go all the way to heart attack upon accidentally walking into someone. Luckily this was quickly fixed by my little snooze which lasted about an hour. Needless to say I heavily enjoyed my nap.

To finish the day I spent hours being in the waters and going from Jacuzzi to Jacuzzi. They have an indoor water area and an outdoor water area. Obviously since it was 31°C, I was outside as were most people. Honestly being in the water with a slight current in it, the sun above your head and stunning views all around made for a very enjoyable end of the day activity. Just to be clear I didn’t mean the people when I said stunning views. I meant the surrounding area! I can’t say that I have conquered my irrational fears, but I will say that I’d definitely consider going again.

A day in the sun at Thermes de Spa well spent.

Love,

DCPR.
