These days I have been feeling like taking very proper care of my skin. I normally do that however now I want to go the extra mile. Especially since I have started working out again. Sweat is causing me to breakout a little and I personally consider break-outs presents send from the devil, so obviously you understand that I need to fight against it before it becomes a permanent part of my life. I am always browsing the web to find new ways to treat myself and this time I stumbled upon one that I had long forgotten about, my trusted baking soda face mask.

What I stumbled upon was a facial that I used to do when I was in the peek of my teen years. You have to understand that my breakouts used to be very bad. Well seeing that it is a subjective term, I have to correct myself to “I experienced them as absolutely terrible”. With lots of patience and 10000000 beauty products I somehow managed to combat them. But mainly with all natural products. So not products you would buy in a beauty store but with products found at farmer’s markets.
I, however, have now found an all natural line which is premixed and up to my standards. You can read my thoughts on it here.
For this particular mask you ironically do have to go to the store, at least I did. Afterwards I went to the farmer’s market. At the store I had to buy baking soda and at the farmer’s market I picked myself up a lemon. Before I explain how this simple mask works I have to warn you that it is pretty aggressive. For me it always made sure that my breakouts got hit with the fire it needed in order to have somewhat clear skin. Also I am not a doctor. I am purely sharing my personal experience. Try at your own risk!
Speaking of trying at your own risk, have you read about how my Black Wawa facial went? Click here to read how that, burned, went down.
Okay now I will get to the actual mask. You basically mix a little baking soda with lemon juice and apply it to your face. I let it sit for ten minutes and then rinsed it off while simultaneously scrubbing my face by circling it off. Nowadays I make the baking soda face mask a little softer since fighting fire with fire worked. To make it softer I either mix lemon juice with olive oil or coconut oil. Or I substitute the lemon juice completely with one of the previous oils. Obviously you still have to put some baking soda in. Note that the less baking soda you put in, the softer or less harsh for the skin it is.
I use this mask about three times a week. More would be damaging to my skin unfortunately. I really love laying down with a mask on my face, so I really really really make sure to enjoy every second of those 30 minutes a week. By the way I forgot to tell you a crucial detail. When you use the lemon baking soda face mask, it will get hard. Hard as in cannot-move-my-face-anymore-this-is-what-botox-must-feel-like hard. You will be able to move your face normally again once the mask comes of, no worries! When you combine the lemon baking soda mask with one of the oils it will not be as hard.
Treat yourself to ten minutes of zen without falling asleep, really don’t.
Love,
DCPR.
