Hope – Recharging My Batteries So I Too Can Live Happily Ever After

Treating yourself is all about taking the time to breathe and slow down life. Next to that it’s also about recharging your batteries. And right now I’m not talking about the batteries that cater to your physical energy. No I’m talking about all the other ones. Hope, perseverance, motivation, mental peace just to name a few. The list is much longer though. For me, hope is what needed recharging. Hope that I will be better sooner rather than later. All the hours spent in bed without being active enough to get distracted from those thoughts sometimes takes its toll on me.

Recommended: I don’t know is the worst!

It’s in those moments that anxiety kicks in and all goes down from that point. Luckily, I have learned how to somewhat pull me back up, or at least get me back on the path by allowing me to recharge my batteries while simultaneously filling me with hope. Not just that, it has also convinced me that as soon as everything can’t seem to be going worse the happy ever after isn’t that far behind. Of course I’m talking about a movie, not just any movie. A movie that I have seen at least once a year since its release year of 2004.

And that is why I should Recharge my Batteries

SPOILER ALERT AHEAD ↓

I actually have those words hanging on my wall. As soon as I was losing myself in my anxiety I grabbed my laptop and started watching A Cinderella Story. It has just the right amount of nostalgia, motivation and hopefulness that I needed. Also the fact that, SPOILER ALERT, in the beginning Sam’s father says that fairy tales aren’t just about finding handsome princes, something I couldn’t agree with more, means a lot to me. Every time I watch the movie I get something else out of it. I learn a new life lesson.

‘’I don’t care what people think about me, because I believe in myself and I know everything is going to be okay.’’

– A Cinderella Story

I needed to hear that. I needed to hear that even though everything seems doomed, seems is the key word. Yes, loved ones say it all the time, but there’s something about hearing it said with such power that got me right where I needed to be. Treated to a healthy dose of hope.

The ones who say Disney movies are just for kids, need to watch them as an adult. They have many life lessons that we missed as a kid.
