The Year Of 23

I honestly don’t even know where to begin.  Let’s start with saying that it’s really been a year. The year of 23 was filled with surprises. Some sort of expected, you know as in things turned out better than expected. Others were.. well surprises. Let’s just keep it at that. In total I can say it’s been a year. A year with a lot of movement. In those movements I learned a lot. Next to that, some things have become a little more clear. Writing those wonderlogues really helps you know! I ruminate way less now. Anyways let’s start the recap of the year of 23. I figured since I’m ending the year 23 I’d share the three most important things I learned. Let’s go!

Happy Birthday to DCPR.

1. Never take advice to heart from people who only know your name.

Yes it’ll be well-meant and said with the best of intentions but really based on what? Obviously this doesn’t go for every advice but for advice that addresses your personal capabilities it is a really good idea to think twice about running with it. Being sick taught me this. In that time lots of people tried making decisions for me, it was well-meant it just didn’t quite work out. Speaking of being sick this brings me to the second lesson I learned.

2. Take care of yourself properly.

Taking care of myself is something I (re)learned. It is most important. If you’re not feeling well you should take all measurements possible to get better. Above that you need to take your time to get better. Some people heal in a week, others need a month or more. Whatever time you need, give it to yourself. In that time do not feel pressured to take on things that you physically feel you cannot handle. Or that you mentally feel you’re not able to handle in that moment in time. Health first always!

Physical and mental health are equally important. Don’t even feel pressured to go along with something you don’t agree with, feel comfortable with,  feel ready/able for. This goes up even if you are in perfect health. The society we live in has put certain pressures on us. Such as always being able to participate in the human race. Not even athletes race everyday. Why should you as a non athlete?! This brings me to the third and final lesson that I learned in the year of 23.

A quote by EE Cummings that took me 23 years to realize. ''It takes courage to grow up and be who you really are.''

3. Don’t rush your life.

By rushing your life you are not only risking your health but also going on a path that isn’t for you. Start believing that everything is coming at the exact right time. Even when things go horrendously wrong everything is still going right. I know this is a hard pill to swallow, it took me a minute too. The universe might just be correcting a wrong choice you made. If you believe in the universe as a working force at least, just like I do.

I know you’d like to manifest your dreams yesterday but when you keep at it, you dreams have no choice but to come true. Believe me because this year I am once again celebrating my birthday in a place I have always wanted to go to. If you would have asked me five years ago whether I’d be celebrating my birthday in a place that’s on my ‘’one-day’’ list. I would have given you a big ‘’NO!’’, but look at me now.

Happy as can be. In love with my life and with myself. Flaws and all, not unimportant to mention. I can even say that I’m grateful for the heartaches that I’ve been through, because all of them made me the wise, well that’s if you ask me😜, girl writing this today. Grateful for it all. The good, the bad and everything in between. So don’t rush your life. Everything is going to work out in your favor, but give yourself and your life time. Time is everything.

The sun is setting on the year of 23

Now I’m going to start the year of 24. Jeez! That number is going up really fast. I’m grateful for it though. Everyday I get is one I am grateful for. Anyways it’s time to look forward again in the direction of the year of 24. I have a feeling it’s going to be a great one.

I also want to take the time to thank all of you who have been with me from the start, those who have just joined and everyone in the middle. THANK YOU! I hope you will join me in the year of 24 as well? Either way thank you. I can’t possibly put in words how grateful I am for each and every one of you reading My Story Of I. So a very big thank you.

It’s high time to start the year of 24. Let’s see what it has in store for me. I’m super excited!

Happy Birthday to me❤️!

Love,

DCPR.
