What is it with us and having to do things? Wait, let me backtrack a little. Ever since I resumed my life, well you know picked up the things I couldn’t handle because I was sick, people have been saying left and right ‘’You have to this.’’, ‘’You have to that.’’. Usually you ‘’have to’’ is followed by a million things. Giving me so much anxiety. Also making me wish that I could do magic. Make it all go away or already handled, either one is fine at this point. However it did make me wonder about have to’s. Do I really have that many have to’s? Better yet, are they really have to’s?
I can’t help but wonder whether we have silently become little firefighters. I mean a fire is something you really have to deal with. It is a definite must, even if you’re the one that caused it on purpose, a campfire for example. At some point in time you have to see to it that it is dealt with in order for it not to burn the world down. The world might be dramatic, but that is the intonation we use when talking about our day to day have to’s. Is there really a sense of urgency behind them? Are they really have to’s?
Are they really have to’s? As in do those things actually help with your course of life? I can’t help but wonder whether a lot of those have to’s being thrown at me, you, us are just things they would really want us to do. Yes, there are things you have to actually do. Pay rent, study for those finals, eat .. you catch my drift. Some things you just can’t go around because you’ll be shooting yourself in the foot. Which people who love themselves do not do. Knowing this how do you, me, us go about filtering what is an actual have to and what is simply optional.
I know in the light of what I just said it seems easy to figure out. Anything that helps your dreams manifest you do, all that destroys them you don’t. Easy peasy. If only life obeyed to that simple rhyme. So now not only have we become firefighters we are weed wackers too. Why? Well I have noticed that lots of things that were previously eliminated are now being posed as you ‘’have to do this’’. Makes me wonder about something Jim Rohn said in one of his talks. ”When you fail to make decisions others will swoop in and make them for you.”
I can’t help but wonder whether that is why I now ended up with so many have to’s. Better yet how everyone ended up with so many have to’s. Even better how did all these have to’s become fires that we, I, have to put out?
I can’t help but wonder have we collectively lost our patience?
Love,
DCPR.
