Why You Should Keep Going

At some point it is understandable for frustration, anger and sadness to kick in. Changing your life is hard as it is without having extraordinary plans. When you do have extraordinary plans the change is even harder. Especially because in most cases only you can see where you are going, which can feel lonely sometimes. Talking about it with others who don’t see it only adds to the aforementioned frustrations. When that conversation continues it could very well lead to you wondering why you should keep going. There are several reasons why you should definitely stick with it. Below are a few of which I hope will re-energize you to continue and hopefully also lower the frustration you might feel.

work-hard-dont-give-up-and-keep-going

First of all when you think of your life as it is right now does it fill you with happiness? Are you excited every morning when your alarm goes off? Excited to start the day and start crossing of all the things on your to-do list? Was that true for the life you left behind as well? Or was that more ‘’I’m going to give myself five more minutes and then I’ll get up. I promise!’’ and then in reality you’d still be laying there 30 minutes after your alarm went off which means you now need to get dressed as fast as Usain Bolt runs. Isn’t it nice to wake up excited and filled with happiness even though what you are about to do is hard?

Yes, what you are doing is hard. I cannot stress this enough changing your life’s path is hard. Hard but not impossible. Many have gone before you and many will come after you. You have to keep going, because everything that is worth it is hard to achieve. You know why it is so easy to sit and watch TV for hours without end? Because it doesn’t get you anywhere. At least not anywhere you actually want to be. By doing what is hard you are actively trying to make tomorrow a better day. You know what? I’m going to let you in on a little secret. The saying:

‘’After rain comes sunshine.’’

-Obafemi Awolowo

is actually true. Everyday that you are exhausting yourself working hard a tomorrow will be better. I cannot promise easier, but I can promise better.

Working hard does however become easier. Now is the point where I think you just raised your eyebrows, but it is true working hard becomes easier. Why? Working hard becomes your new normal. Note that I am not saying that what it is you are doing will become easier. I am saying that coming up with the effort, energy and all other things needed will become easier. Because humans are creatures of habit. Yes, even the ones claiming that they are the most spontaneous people out they too are creatures of habit. So by working hard everyday, it’ll become your new habit and overtime become an automated process.

Last but definitely not least you should keep going for the love you have for yourself. For knowing that you deserve better than what it is you are giving yourself right now. For knowing that you can achieve all the things you sit and dream of everyday. You know you want this more than anything in the world. Every time you achieve a success in the bigger picture, you smile and feel proud and happy. That is you showing you two things. The first being love and the second that you can do it. For me, personally, that alone is reason enough to keep going and persevere to the point of success.

When working on your dream makes you feel warm inside and happy, you have to keep going.

Love,

DCPR.
